Everybody who danced through the 80's or discovered the music in hindsight knows the scottish artist James 'Midge' Ure. His voice characterized smash hits like 'Vienna', 'Hymn', 'Love’s Great Adventure' and 'Dancing With Tears In My Eyes' by ULTRAVOX, a band that sky-rocketed when he joined. Even before his time by one of New Wave's leading bands, he coined the top-ten single 'Forever And Ever' with his then band SLIK. During and after his stint with ULTRAVOX, Ure recorded several well known songs with other famous artists, like 'Fade To Grey' by VISAGE or 'Do They Know It’s Christmas?', a piece he wrote together with Bob Geldof for BAND AID. Furtheron he worked as a producer for the likes of Phil Lynott, Steve Harley of COCKNEY REBEL-fame or the girl group BANANARAMA, but never left out intriguing live performances. Midge Ure reunited with ULTRAVOX in 2008 and has been going strong ever since. During 2014 and 2016 he joined the ROCK MEETS CLASSIC ensembles and performed stunning orchestral versions of 'Hymn' and 'Dancing With Tears In My Eyes'. We are more than happy to welcome this musical heavy weight at ROCK OF AGES 2018!
